Activities for Seniors in the Princeton NJ Area

Things to Do in Princeton #1: Swing Dance

Whether you’re a student or you’ve been swing dancing since the Jitterbug was first invented, you can get your jive on at Princeton University’s weekly swing dance lessons and social dances. The mission of the Princeton Swing Club is to promote social swing dancing at Princeton University and in the Princeton community. That means, you don’t have to attend the university, or be affiliated, in order to join in.

 

They host a beginner lindy lesson every Wednesday at 7:30 pm, which is followed by a social dance at 8:30 pm in the Friend Center Convocation Room. No partner needed!

 

Things to Do in Princeton #2: New Jersey Golf Courses

Bunker Hill Golf Course

Managed by Distinct Golf and one of the most highly reviewed, Bunker Hill is an 18-hole course at the Bunker Hill Golf Club facility. With a total of 5,965 yards of golf from the longest tees, for a par of 72, the course rating is 67.9 with a slope rating of 111 on rye grass. It was originally designed by Hollis Yarborough and opened in 1972. According to other golf fans, the fairways and greens here are in good shape. Rumor also has it that the staff is pretty funny.

 

Princeton Golf Course

Only two miles from the center of Princeton, this 18-hole golf course in Princeton, New Jersey is located at the Princeton Country Club facility. Rated at 68.8 with a slope rating of 113 on rye grass, it offers over 6,000 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 70. The course was originally designed by William F. Gordon, a founding member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. According to guests who frequent golf courses in Princeton, the greens are long but fast. They also have an indoor practice facility too.

 

Things to Do in Princeton #3: Walking Tours

If you’re a history buff or just a person who loves knowing about the community they live in, doing a walking tour can be a great way to get a little exercise and learn more. There are walking tours available in the area that offer tours of Princeton University, historic monuments, and even a walk around Einstein’s old neighborhood where he lived after accepting a position at the newly-created Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton in 1932.
